Aerogel Insulation

Aerogel was originally developed by NASA in the late 1990’s to protect astronauts from the freezing cold of open space while still maintaining mobility inside their spacesuits.

Aerogel is far lighter, more flexible, and transfers less heat than any other insulating fabric made by any company on Earth. It’s simply the finest insulation ever devised by man.

Today we use the Aerogel technology to keep your feet warm down to -13° F while the weight of the boots is the lightest in this insulation class.

The weight of Aerogel is just 50 grams per square meter and has the same thermal insulation properties as insulation of 800 gr/m2. This superb weight-to-efficiency ratio makes Alpha Aerogel boots at least 20% lighter and less bulky than any on the market.

And that's not all...

The Aerogel thermal insulation is bi-directional which means that in hot days it insulates your feet from heat. This doesn't mean that your feet will be chilled but at least you will feel the temperature in your boots comfortable as when using waterproof boots without insulation.

Waterproofness

The industry standard for waterproof protection level is 1.6 inches above the board of the boots. Hillman destroys that standard by providing a boot that stays waterproof when you step into water 5 inches deep! That’s over 3X the depth, so you can move through muddy terrain, marshes, or even along riverbanks and never get your feet wet.
